This Weeks

It’s that time of week again – here’s our Top 3 iPhone apps for the week of 19th April 2010.

This week we are featuring Evernote, Pocket God, and Shanghai Mahjong HD.

Price: Free

Evernote is a brilliant service. And it’s made purely better with a fantastic set of applications for it – Evernote for iPhone, and Evernote for iPad.

The concept behind Evernote is really really simple – you jot down whatever you want in the world, and if it’s done on a phone, Location Data is added to the note. Say you need to remember where you parked your car – make a note called “Car” with your Phone (most phones are supported) and tag it with your location.

It’s a great service, a great application and a tasty UI. The iPad version outweighs the iPhone one, but for obvious reasons.

Pocket God for iPhone

Price: £0.59/$0.99

What is Pocket God? Pocket God is simply… everything. You control a maximum of six little Pygmies – little townsfolk of the cavemen times.

In short, you are their god. You can pick them up, throw them around, drown them, spear them, zap them with lightning, throw meteors at them, make them struggle for their lives against a T-Rex. And so much more.

It’s a little hard to get into, but probably one of my top-rated games for 2010. It’s simplistic, enjoyable gameplay – but it does get kinda repetitive if you play it far too often, like I do.

Shout-out to Ben for tipping us to this.

Shanghai Mahjong HD for iPad

Price: Free (Lite), £1.79/$1.99 (Full)

This is a quality application. A beautiful, customisable interface, coupled with hundreds of fun board layouts to make sure you’re never bored – ranging from the standard ‘Dragon’ layout to ‘Dude’ – an assembly resembling a mans face, among others. Mahjong Tiles, if you’re not aware, is a great way to relieve stress. The simple game of matching tiles with each other, having to unblock tiles horizontally, somehow relaxes you and improves your thinking speed.

And it looks amazing on the iPad. As ever, though, the Lite addition packs few features to entice you to buy the full edition. The Lite edition is much easier, and gets boring much, much quicker.

Check the screenshots below for more information, and, well, screenshots!

Thanks, and see you next week.
