This week we’ll do something new – and run a weekly feature on our top 5 apps for the week, every monday, from now on.
This week we are featuring: Doodle Jump, Plants Vs. Zombies HD, and Twitterrific iPad.
Doodle Jump
Doodle Jump, if you’re not already aware of the amazingly popular app, is a simple game. You control some yellow thing jumping up platforms of various kinds trying to get as high as possible – while blasting monsters – for no reason other than to show off.
Doodle Jump is impressive, immersive and fun. It also updates incredibly frequently so you never get the same experience – they seem to push out a theme every 2 months.
Doodle Jump is simple – tilt left, move left, tilt right, move right, all the meantime bouncing upwards to a moosey fate.
It’s for iPhone, and $0.99, or 59p (UK).

Plants vs. Zombies HD
Plants vs. Zombies. You grow plants. They shoot the undead. Awesome! And for iPad.
I’ve always been a major fan of Plants vs. Zombies, and this is no exception. Plants vs. Zombies HD is the greatest addition to the family of Windows, Mac and iPhone versions. The iPad version is no exception, making full use of the large screen of the iPad to be a truly great application.
It’s very simple – it’s a tower defense game instead organised by rows and columns. Zombies come from the right of the screen, trying to cross the lawn to get to your house (left). There’s 6 rows and 10 columns for you to place plants in to try and stop the hordes of Zombies varying from bucket-heads to Michael Jackson’s Thriller to Yetis.
It’s $9.99, or £5.99 (UK).Gallery (click to expand):

Twitterrific
I love Twitter. I’m sure a hell of a lot of people do. But suddenly, everything’s a lot more entertaining. The Twitterrific App for the iPad is, fluent, amazing, feature-filled and attractive. There’s not a lot to say – it’s powerful – it retweets, it does everything on the tin. But as it stands, it’s the only iPad app that does that so far.
Also, it’s free. Did I say that?
