According to the New York times, Apple have acquired online music streaming and purchase website lala – a move which one could state is implying Apple’s move to the web and possible ‘cloud’ interface for iTunes.
New York Times states:
Lala, unlike Apple’s iTunes, lets users play the music they own from the Web — or in tech industry parlance, from the cloud. If Apple introduces its own cloud-based streaming music service, it would let people skip having to download music they buy or synchronize their music collection between their computers and mobile devices.
Apple’s acquisition is definitely one that could spark interest into how it will deal with iTunes – especially with complaints on the iPhone requiring a computer to download content – no smartphone should require a computer!
We’ll have to watch and see what Apple do next.
