Eric Schmidt, 2009

If it’s not enough to completely copy Twitter, something which drastically failed, Google have plans for a new product: a Facebook clone. ‘Google Me’, as suggested by former Digg CEO Kevin Rose, and confirmed by various people within Google, seems spot on for a Facebook rip-off.

Although it appears heavily like Facebook, apparent features are a ‘much heavier gaming focus’, having already partnered with Zynga and other online-game makers.

However, without confirming or denying it, Google CEO Eric Schmidt offered his comment simply as:

“The world doesn’t need a copy of the same thing.”
